Hey Folks!

Thanks for stopping by! My name is Emily Jennings and I’m a creator and facilitator at She’s Heard and I’m so glad you found your way here! She’s Heard exists to help us see that each path to fully being ourselves, to fully living and owning our story, our voice, is as unique as each of us. Speaking up and owning our voice is like a muscle and like any muscle, with consistent training, it grows stronger and builds resilience. And can’t we all benefit from greater strength and resilience?

I’m an athlete and personal trainer. Every time I or someone I work with, improves or gets stronger it feels like magic. Every time. (But of course it’s not magic, it’s physics. And well, physics FEELS like magic sometimes.) And every time someone is a little more courageous and stands up for themselves or an injustice, it somehow really does make it better for all of us. It’s like the seeds of hope and freedom get a little water every time, a little sunshine every time, and the chance to grow increases, if only for a little bit.

It’s clear to me the more I learn about all the isms - racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, classism - the root of this kind of sickness, disassociation, dis-ease, and fracturing of the human psyche and spirit,  is PERPETUATED by “the deafening silence of the good people” as Dr. King famously stated. I want this to stop. I am beyond sick of the insane amount of suffering that’s caused by this way of being and thinking in the world.  I want every shade of woman and person to feel safe in their skin and to fully LIVE and realize each of our potential.

I believe that no one is free unless we ALL are free. No one is safe unless we all are safe. An injustice ANYWHERE, really is a threat to justice EVERYWHERE.  And conversely in the words of Dr. Maya Angelou "Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women."

We can’t stand for anyone until we learn to speak up and stand for ourselves. She’s Heard exists, to help people, especially women, see that more often than not, there’s a process or a learning curve to speaking up and that we really CAN do it. That as Brenee Brown says, “Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do.” And . . . I’d like to add . . . that the next really freaking brave step, is to stand up, name evil when you see it, and disrupt injustice.

My prayer and intention is that this site and podcast inspires and helps us own our voice in a deeper way, live courageously, be our full selves, and take fierce action towards creating meaningful lives and a safer world for EVERYBODY. So again, thank you for being here! This is not a comfortable way to live, but it’s liberating and vibrant. And I don’t know about you, but I’d opt for discomfort, liberation, and fully being alive, over numbing out in the illusion of safety and security while our passivity perpetuates an insane amount of suffering. I hope you’ll join me in the practice of waking and speaking up.

With deep love and liberation,

Emily Jennings
